This site is very informative about oil and filtration. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/
I use Mobile1 0-20 and a Mobile1 filter in the 12 3.7 and also in my Jaguar. I used to use 5-20 in the Jag but last fall I changed. It makes for easier starts on sub freezing mornings.

I have used Royal Purple 5W-30 (API SN) in my current and previous Mustang (2005 GT).
I have no complaints and perfomed my first oil change at 4000 miles.
I am considering moving to Amsoil in the near future since it might be slightly less for that.

I've always been of the opinion that how frequently the oil is changed is more important than what kind. I like to pick a brand & stay with it. I run Motorcraft in all 4 of my Fords, & have always had good luck with it.
When my '09 was up at Brenspeed last year they put Royal Purple (synthetic) in it. I bought Mobil One last week for it, because I've always been told that once you've got synthetic oil in a car you don't want to go back. However, an auto parts store mgr told me the other day that a Valvoline rep told him that's not true. Anyone know for sure?

Amsoil, Mobil1 or Pennzoil full syn and an Amsoil Ea or Mobil1 oil filter. 8k-10k miles or 1 year oil changes, whichever comes first. At least 5 of my vehicles, bought new, had their oil changed under that method and all had no issues beyond 200,000 miles.
