5W50 oil change
So, already read quite a bit of information regarding the whole 5W50
oil debate.
Long story short, had my 1000K oil change today at the dealership, which is something that I had been debating over the past week.
I requested a full synthetic and they put 5W50 in it.
So, based on some things that I have read, I should now go back and demand that they change it out for 5W20.
And no, my car does not have the 'Track Pack'.
What a pain in the ****....

5w50 is more of a "racing" weight. If you're just putting around and occasionally have fun, it's not really necessary. I probably wouldn't freak, but I'd go back and at least ask why they filled it with 5w50. Might get your next change free out of it.
Personally, I'd just ask for the next oil and filter free and do the change yourself provided you have the room and tools necessary.

So here is the dealership response as to why they
used 5W50 in my car.
Do I trust this response???????
According the Ford specs on your car 5w20 synthetic blend is spec for your car however if using full synthetic 5w50 is the spec. You have the correct full synthetic in your car.

Not really sure why they'd opt for that much heavier a weight when going to full synthetic over a blend.
Not having a newer Stang, I don't really know what the official synthetic spec is, but I'd suspect it's 5w20. That said, I don't think 5w50 is going to hurt anything . Perhaps ask them if they could show you where 5w50 is specified? Do it politely or like you're playing dumb.

Synthetic oil has a more consistent molecular size since it's man made, Dino oil is inconsistent (or less consistent). My guess is that Dino/Syn mixed is used at a lower weight for that reason whereas the full Syn oil doesn't have that issue so they can use a higher weight multi-weight.
I wouldn't worry much about it anyways since the 5W the most important part of this equation (in this case) that's your start up weight. the 50 just means it can handle a higher temp and sheering forces before it breaks down.
