That is the reason why you have backups under the car, in case one set fails.

Thank God you weren't under there. Was that on an incline at all? I can't tell from the picture. Glad your car wasn't damaged more, though!

Im a FF and we recently had a call where a guy got squashed under a hydraulic lift that failed at a service station.....not pretty. Good to see you were nowhere near this thing when it fell!

It's a very very slight incline (just for drainage reasons, I think). I've had the car on jackstands there before, and I have seen the jackstands sink into the asphalt, just never thought it would do anything like this. I need to put some pieces of steel across the bottom to give them some more surface area apparently.

Good to know, I've never known asphalt was an issue.

With this cheery thought, it's suspension and X pipe install day, I'm off to the garage.

great post! this could actually save someone from doing the
same thing and getting hurt or killed.
