Default Newbie - 2013 v6 premium convertible :- Need suggestion

Hi all,

I am planning to buy a 2013 v6 premium convertible and I have talked with a dealer who is giving me a good offer...

However, I am hearing a lot of convertible owners complaining about the leakage issues in a convertible..

I am not sure if it is an isolated incident or if majority of convertible owners are facing this issue..

I will be using my mustang for daily office commute and the last thing I want is to go to office getting drenched; all the more after spending some 5k extra on a convertible...

Any suggestion regarding this is highly appreciated....

Additionally, can you guys suggest some packages and options and I should consider for my mustang..

Thanks in advance!!!!

I haven't had any problems with my 2013, and I've driven through some big rain storms with it. I also drive it every day on a 45 mile one way commute and it is very tight.

Never had any issues with my 2006 convertible either.

My 2008 vert never had any problems with leaks. I was in a couple of really nasty storms with it.
See my sig at the bottom of the page. It is only about a week old so I haven't seen that much rain with it yet, but I have no reason to think it would leak.

JimC and DK POny,

Thanks a lot for the reply....

Since premium comes with leather seats, is it absolutely necessary to have heated seating for proper ventilation...

And, what all are the preferred accessories which I should look for the vehicle?

Thanks!!!

I have a 2011 v6 premium convertible, have the heated seats, but live in CA, the seats themselves just have a heating element in them, not fan blown heat so im not sure about heat doing anything for ventilation. As for the more important question of leakage, Happy to say not a drop here, weekly carwashes and rain during the winter (though not much) and the top goes down just about every day, hasnt warn at all yet..time will tell..

Not sure what you mean about the heated seats and ventilation. As mentioned it is just a heating element inside the seat like an electric blanket.
My understanding is it is just placed between the cushion and the seat cover.

I have the Pony Package and Premium package and absolutely love all the equipment on my car. The Pony Package gets you the bigger wheels and tires, different grille and fog lights and some other stuff that I can't remember. One thing I found that was strange was that one package (I forget which one) gets you the power drivers seat but not the passenger, then the comfort package gets you the passenger power seat and heated seats.

The performance package would be very nice (mine does not have it) but is kinda hard to find on the V6 as it is only available with the manual tranny. 3:31 gears, bigger sways and different wheels are a few good points about it.

I didn't have the heated seats in my 2006 (they were in my wife's 2006 Focus though, but not an option when I bought my Mustang). I ordered it with the 2013 and have had a couple of cool evenings with the top down - the heated seat make it a lot easier to keep the top down.

Now if I could just get the cooling seats like my wife's Lincoln MKZ for those 90+ days with the top down!

i have a 2010 GT premium convert. no problems at all. I know its a different year, but Ford makes their mustangs pretty well in my opinion. Get the convert, i had to take a trip from Buffalo N.Y. to Media P.A. for the AM show a couple weeks back (about 700 miles round trip) and left at 1am and the top was down the whole ride. feels great
on a cool summer night!
