Default 2008 Mustang GT 4.6L Temp Sensor

Can anyone please tell me where the Temp sending sensor is located on the engine? A pic would greatly be appreciated!!!!!

I would like to tap into the wire for a temperature gauge!

thanks

if you go with the aeroforce interceptor gauge, it will show you
cylinder head temperature, along with many other useful items.

if you are set on tapping into a factory sensor (which i would be too
afraid to do), the cylinder head temperature sensor is on the
passenger side head, under the intake. you can get to the wires though,
in the wiring harness which is on the passenger side.

I would just get an aeroforce gauge. How would you know if your temp gauge would work with the head temp sensor? It's just sending a voltage signal to the ecm.

There is no actual coolant temp sensor and I don't believe there is an ambient air temp sensor either. The pcm calculates both of these based on other sensors.

You may have bought the type that has the probe with the capillary tube attached to it. They're made to go either "inside" the upper rad hose. If it's an inside type then just loosen the upper rad hose, slide it off & slip the probe inside, then carefully slide the hose back on without kinking the capillary tube & don't overtighten the hose clamp

The water temperature gauge is showing an interpolated reading based on the cylinder head temperature.

The only way I know of to easily mount a real water temp sender (and its associated gauge) is with a upper radiator hose tee-sleeve fitting. I used this one ($35 with shipping):
