Default In search for a good cheap car

Recently ive been strongly considering a used mustang as my first car. Now my budget is only $6000 so i was wondering what would be a good looking, decently running mustang that i could possibly find under my budget

Since you posted in the 2005-2013 section I'm assuming those are the years of Mustang you want to buy? If so you'll probably only be able to get a V6 and it would have a decent amount of miles on it for 6k. Just hit some car classified sites and you can search for all Mustangs that are for sale for around 6k and see if anything looks decent to you.

If I was in your position I'd be buying a foxbody, no question. Depends what body style you want, if you'd want a V8 or not, etc.

Not going to find a very good 05-09 with that kind of cash. If you do find one, chances are it will be a 05-06 (4.0 V6 obviously) with a LOT of miles, and likely a crash/salvage/etc. Or maybe you could get lucky and find one at a police auction, but again, shady and not likely.

My suggestion is go older, while the new edge models are the older body style you could probably find one in your price range with much better car history, and decent miles on the odo.

Look in the 86-04 range (I know, wide scope). You'll easily be able to get a good vehicle with decent mileage in that year span.

$6k for an S197 worth a darn? Not likely. Even an '05 in only good condition will run you $9k at the very least. And if you WERE to find an S197 for under $9k, I'd be very suspicious that it has one of the reliabilty-limiting TSB problems that'll cost you big $$ to resolve in the long run.
