And therefore possibly cause some rough running/pinging until the Seafoam has had a chance to mix with the fuel and the fuel has had a chance to run through the system. It sounds as though it might just be the Seafoam doing its job. That's a good thing.

How much Seafoam would you put in a full tank?

I put in the whole bottle, I think that's what the instructions on the bottle say.

I flashed the 87 tune just to see if it changes anything. Still pinging, I will empty the tank now and hope it will be gone with new gas.

Could the Seafoam cause the pinging?

weird that it would ping at low rpms.

i had some pinging in my old mazda truck as i would have to floor it to get over this hill on the highway while maintaining a highway speed.
switched to a higher octane and the pinging resolved.

I would reduce (retard) the timing manually with your tuner until you get some fresh gas in there. Pinging at low RPM is very odd. By retarding the timing 2 or 3 degrees at say 0-2000 and 2000-4000 RPM you'll reduce the chance of doing any damage.

Once you get refilled, reload the untouched tune you were running before to get the timing back to normal. I don't remember if you can advance it otherwise as whatever change you made becomes the new '0' and you can only subtract (reduce) timing, not advance (increase) timing.

I don't have a can in front of me but IIRC an entire can may have been a bit more than what is called for 16 gallons of fuel. It's possible that your fuel mix was just a bit off; enough to cause pinging; but it's also possible that your fuel initially was borderline correct on octane.

Pinging at low rpms and high rpms? We are talking full throttle right? If you are not at full throttle, then it's not pinging, it's something else.

My guess is you got a bad load of gas(been there, done that). If your latest fill up was at a Mom & Pop station, then suggest getting the next load at a station that sells top tier gas(Chevron, Exxon, Mobil, Shell, Sunoco, or Texaco).

Alright I filled it up with fresh gas and the pinging seems to be gone now.
I still think the pinging had something to do with the Seafoam because I always get gas at the same brand name gas station.
