I still think the pinging had something to do with the Seafoam because I always get gas at the same brand name gas station.
I won't discount the SeaFoam being at fault but a 1 qt bottle shouldn't dilute 16 gallons enough to cause a drop in octane that the PCM can't keep up with. Just seems odd... My guess is still the initial tank of fuel. Not every delivery to the same gas station has the same octane level and same ethanol content.
I've had that happen as well. Stop at the same station and every once in a while I would get a tank of gas that just didn't run right.

I load up at the same Sunoco station, and once had a pinging problem after filling up there. Pulled the timing until the pinging stopped, drove conservatively for a few weeks(felt like a few months) until that load was almost gone, filled up at the same place, reset the timing, and no more pinging.
On the other hand, I've used Seafoam numerous times, and never had any pinging.
