Default Can Seafoam cause engine pinging?

Hi,

A few days ago I put a bottle of Seafoam into my tank and filled it up with gas. Since then I noticed a little bit of engine pinging at low RPMs and very high RPMs. I have a Brenspeed tune.
Could the Seafoam cause the pinging?

Never heard of seafoam causing anything bad unless you misuse it somehow. I never had any issues.

Try running some gas out and putting more gas in to dilute the seafoam in the tank to see if that helps.

I have used Seafoam and never had any issues. If you can, get some good non-ethanol 93 octane, preferably from a Phillips 66 brand (shameless plug for my company). Use it every time you fill up and I promise to thank you when I retire.

Sounds like your gas or maybe the tune is causing the pinging.
Something may not be correct with it.

Empty that tank and start fresh and see if you are still pinging.
If not...then decide whether to add the seafoam in again and see whether it was the foam or gas,
or leave it alone and just don't add the foam anymore.

If with new gas and no foam you ARE still pinging....

You may want to have a dyno tune done to correct the problem.
You sure don't want your engine pinging!

Seafoam will also mix with what ever water/moisture is in the tank.

If you're pinging you want to add in higher octane, preferably with ethanol. Ethanol has less energy, but higher octane and will help with detonation.

Shouldn't you always try to use higher octane?

No. You want to use the lowest octane required to achieve maximum performance without negative effects (pinging). If your carcan make peak power at 91 octane, running 93 is a waste. Unless you retune/reconfigure to take advantage of 93.
