hmmm so far so good .. they confirmed my steeda intake is the billet one (another rep was positive if I got it from AM it was the cast aluminum one?), and sent me tunes for that intake.
I went for a ~15 mile mixed drive and it seems good .. give it a day or two and may be able to call this one solved.
wonder if the handful of misfires in the mean time did any harm? I am glad modern cars are able to turn themselves off when they detect that sort of thing.

Don't know specifically about the 2011+ mustangs but most newer cars (and especially those with throttle by wire or adaptive learning) need to have the idle and fuel trims relearned in order have the car idle correctly and have throttle tip-in be calibrated correctly.
I have never heard of a Ford Crankshaft relearn procedure? Maybe they are calling something else these days.

I hope this is interesting.

made it to work today with no abnormalities.. think it's resolved!
lesson to learn from this one - if you are using the steeda intake be well aware of which model it is, which diameter your pipe is, and that you're getting the correct tune. I lost some hours out of my life and dealt with a decent bit of stress over that simple error.
