2010 GT or 2012 GT?

I would get a 4.6 without a doubt. The 5.0 is an awesome transmission, but the issues with the transmission cancel out the awesomenes of the motor for me. This is coming from someone with an '05 V6 that has the T5 (which is known for having a **** transmission) It is not easy to fix that kind of issue. A pain in the *** and a lot of money.
My husband's buddy has a '10 4.6 with a few mods that car is great with a solid drive-train.

I view the 2010 GT as more of a cruiser and the 2012 GT as more of a sport bike. Torque difference between the years is not as dramatic as the horsepower difference. The superior gearing of a 6 speed amplifies the performance difference between the engines. The incidence level of MT82 problems is blown out of proportion, but I can also say that I've had my 2010 for a couple of years and never regretted choosing a 2010 over 2011. I prefer the slightly more conservative fascias of a 2010, prefer the sound of the 2010 GT, and even prefer the proven Tremec 5 speed to a new skip shift 6 speed for laid back drives. Also I bought a convertible and do not care for the rear convertible seats after 2010.

The 4.6 is a very reliable motor as are the transmissions in the 05-10's.
However the 5.0 is not even comparable to the 4.6 IMO. The technology in the new 5.0 and the way to revs is amaaaaaaaazing. Very similar to the newer M3's 4.0 V8, except with more torque and doesn't rev quite as high (stock) With a few bolt-on's to the 5.0 you will be running with some serious competition.

If it were me id go with the 5.0
I love my 2007 but man the 5.0s are sick.
I would get a 2011 if it were me. Slightly cheaper but still the 5.0
And some of the newer 2013s/2012s are getting a little tacky imo with all of the changes they are adding. A lot of it is options like the louvers, scoops, lights etc but the oem options are fairly ugly to me.
Not to mention the new 5.0 runs with the new M3 so you can get all the performance for half the price!

2010 the motor has no issues and definatly not the trans and believe me unless the new 5.0 is supercharged modded 4.6's like mine give bolt on 5.0's a run believe me and if you are looking to spend money on a 5.0 buy a used gt 500 with definatly a better trans and a name on that car that will really keep better value!

I've owned both and in all honesty the 4.6L and tremec are bulletproof. The only trouble I had were ticking phasers. It was a fun car. I also had a coworker that had 165K on his 4.6L & tremec with minimal problems. The 5.0L/MT-82 is yet to be seen. However in all honesty the 5.0L @ half throttle = 4.6L @ full throttle. If you drive them back to back you'll buy the 5.0L and not look back. The only thing else I can say is don't buy a 2011 if you can help it and the later the production of a 12 the better. Ford isn't the best for testing so it takes them about a year to iron stuff out. (I was told this by a major Ford dealership service manager)
