Matte vinyl stripe care revisited
Several months ago MobileMustang & Blacksmoke had questions about vinyl strip care. Several people chimed in with answers form "I am removing mine" to "this or that works". One answer was given and I do apologize to whoever that person was about care and cleaning. I have a Performance White GT w/ matte black over the hood stripes and want to keep mine, so I follwed that one persons advice on cleaning and protecting. First was to clean. After washing the car, I cleaned the stripes with 2:1 alcohol and water and a microfiber towel. Let it dry. Second I used 303 Protectant applied very sparingly with a wax applicator sponge. When I say sparingly I mean like 10 or so total sprays on the sponge for the entire stripes on the hood, roof, trunk, & down the back. WOW what a huge difference. I wished that I had done before and after pics if anyone is interested in this. I am now one happy camper, my car & stripes look brand new and I hope that this may help somone who was in the same boat as mine. Also thanks to whoever the poster was who came up with this method.

I really wished that I had taken some before. I bought the car used and the stripes have never been taken care of. Water spots, light scratches, etc. Today was a very cool and blustery day for us in AL. I decided a long time ago that since I have to work in this stuff I can play in it. Washed & waxed my car today. I did not come up with all of this. Just passing info on. Tonight I noticed that my matte black stripes now have a slight sheen to them. I could see the brake / tail lights reflecting just slightly off my hood stripes. I did not have that before. The stripes now look new and black, not blackish. Very impressed.
