07 GT500 Clutch Failure at 20,000mi

Revisions of TSB
Another question... I think my dealer might be using the OLD TSB (08-16-14) vs the NEW one (10-3-8).
Aside from checking the synchros for damage, I notice that the newer one has different part numbers... Is this just a case of the part number changing or should they actually be using newer parts?

Glad to hear that they'll be replacing it under you're extended warranty.....but there's a clutch TSB for all GT500's built prior to Sept 08, so I hope you're not having to pay any type of deductable out of pocket. I only mention this because I've seen some extended warranties have deductables.
As far as flashing your computer, I'm not sure why they'd have to do that either, if all they're doing is replacing your clutch. I'd definitely ask them not to touch the computer, because you'll loose your tune currently loaded.

I asked him about this and he said that I have to pay the $100 deductible because it is covered by the warranty. I'm not sure if he really knows what he's talking about because I tried to explain to him that it was covered by the TSB and there should be no charge... BUT at the same time I am getting it fixed despite my pulley swap and tune, so I'm not going to complain... $100 is fine with me!
Good luck on the repairs!

The key thing to keep in mind when having any warranty repair is what is referred to as cuase of failure. Once the shop has the trans out and is able to inspect the clutch they will be able to determine if it is wear and tear, abuse, or a failed component. In the event of a failed component under factory warranty or esp, a factory extended warranty, consesequential damage is covered. So your dealer may be relating the repair to some other component that is covered by your extended warranty causing you to have a deductable. More often than not the guys at the dealer are more intersted in helping you the customer rather than looking out for Ford and their warranty rules and regulations. If that dealer gets audited Ford will review that claim and possibly review the old parts that the dealer is forced to return. If the technician comments and the parts billed on the repair order do not support the claim Ford Will charge the dealer back the entire repair for parts and labor.

If all they are doing is replacing the clutch, flywheel, etc., what is to say that this won't happen to me again after another 20,000 miles? Am I missing something?
Also, since my dealer isn't really concerned with the TSBs, I think he may just be using the 07-09 parts instead of the 10-11 parts. Are there any issues with that? I assume it's not a big deal since there are plenty of 07-09 Shelbys out there with stock trannys, but I'm wondering if you guys prefer the newer 10-11 systems?
Thanks again!

Soooo... for those who are interested... I mistakenly handed my Service Advisor the old TSB (08-16-4) and he ordered the parts (07-09) without checking to see if there was a newer version. He just discovered that he now has to re-order the newer parts (10-12) from TSB 10-3-8.
It looks like I'm getting the latest and greatest!

Also just because it is a TSB does not mean it will be covered by their dime. A recall they would have to take care of it, but a TSB just means there is a bulletin and some cars may be affected. I know with my experience with GM, not sure about Ford yet as I just got my car, if you had an extended warranty with a deductible, you still have to pay for it.
Glad everything is working out for you and sounds like they are treating you great. Pulley/Tune and getting covered under warranty= winning.

I've heard the same thing from those I know that have had it done....they say the clutch feels so much nicer than the stock 07-09 clutch.
