Sounds alot like what I went thru. I ended up replacing the alternator, went and tested it sure enough, it was done. Not only that, when I installed it, it still gave me the popping, dummy lights so I popped the hood and had my pops look for anything weird. He noticed a spark coming from one of the grounds. Turns out the wire was loose so I just tightened it down and that fixed the issue. Electrical problems are the worst, sometimes its small stuff like this that are the biggest pains lol Good luck with your fix.
