Default loud popping super loud exhuast

I just finished the install of my Pypes l/t headers and offroad x pipe on my 08 saleen. First of all I would like to say I am very pleased with the product and the fit was great. I can definately feel a difference in performance. Under normal driving I think it is actually quieter inside the car with less drone. Also, the car seems to accelerate much smoother than before. I love the sound of the saleen exhaust under light throttle. The part that I dont like is the popping super loud noise it makes under harder accel. Not w.o.t. but just stepping on it a bit. It sounds like a big diesel rig using an exhuast "jake" brake. I am thinking about having some stainless steel resonators welded in. Basically a quality glass pack type. I dont want to quiet down the exhaust much. I just want to get rid of that hillbilly sounding poppin on accel. Any suggestions?? Has anyone done this? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

That should not happen on acceleration at all. Deceleration, yes, but not when you are stepping on the gas... There is something else going on.

Resonators should take care of it

Welcome to trumpeting. I had it really bad too. Just weld in some pypes m80's. They will eliminate it and deepen your exhaust tone too. They wont quiet the tone just change the tonal characteristics. Trumpeting is very common when you add longtubes and or get rid of the factory cats.

Is your saleen supercharged? It sounds like it's misfiring. Is the popping random? Can you post a video, something under the bumper maybe.

It is not misfiring. Maybe I am not giving a good description. It is not like a backfire pop. it is just a loud exhaust sound. It reminds me of what an old pick up truck running straight pipes or one with old glass packs sounds like on accel. I had the car on the interstate today and at certain hwy speeds it is actually quieter in the cab than it was with the factory manifolds and cats. Less drone in the cab at 70 mph. It also looks like I am getting about 2 miles per gallon better. About 10 percent. I guess the sound that I am referring to is trumpeting. I will try to figure out how to get a video of the sound. The car definately has more power. I can feel the increase in torque. I have not done any real w.o.t. runs with it yet.

Its trumpeting, very common. m80s or similar resonator will get rid of it. Cleans up the tone real nice.

Thanks everyone. I will be getting some resonators soon. Moosestang, that is a really cool video. I need to get a camera for doing that sort of thing. I have way too much of my life stored on my cell phone to risk losing it by me trying to zip tie or duct tape it under my bumper. I atually considered it though. LOL

Here is a before sound clip with total stock exhuast taken a while ago and then a short clip of the sound at the tailpipe now. The video doesnt really depict the sound but I think you can get the idea what it sounds like under accel. loud and very raspy trumpeting. The loud and raspy part is kind of cool but the trumpeting has to go.
