CAI's are a bunch of Hot Air!! - Need Stock '08 Intake Pics
Bought an '08 GT 2 yrs ago. Previous owner installed a K&N CAI. Last summer, I hooked up my hand held scanner and drove it. It was 95 degrees outside and IAT was 115 while cruising at 70 mph. Within a minute after stoppping, IAT was 145 and continued to climb to 158 within 3 minutes.
Ran the exact same route on with my '05 Chevy Silverado. Cruising, IAT was 111. After stopping for 4 minutes, IAT was 124, pulling from the stock fenderwell intake. So, I put an Air Aid Jr on it, which is a cleaner intake pipe, pulling from the fenderwell.
Anybody got any pics of a stock '08 GT intake? Do they pull from the fenderwell? Thinking about reconverting back, with possibly an Air Aid Jr. pipe.
Thanks.

The "cold" in CAI is a misnomer. The cooler ambient air makes less difference to power gain than the higher airflow. Of course, unless you get a tune for that CAI, you won't notice much, if any, RWHP gains; 3-5 MAYBE. But with a good tune you'll feel the 20-25 RWHP gain.
Again, forget the "cold" in CAI.

K&N CAI? is that the one that doesn't require a tune? Ditch that and buy a C&L or JLT. The CAI that came with my whipple has intake air temps almost identical to ambient while cruising. It just has an open filter where the stock box was.

All of the CAIs for our mustangs are not really cold air intakes. They are more of short ram intakes meaning they dont chance inlet temp just flow rate.
Back when I drove an accord I bought a CAI (for some unknown reasons) and it was a true CAI. It routed the intake down and out of the engine bay to right in front of the front wheel .
That lets the intake temp stay significantly lower which is what a CAI really is. Short ram intakes are just bigger to decrease flow restrictions.
And K&N is crap, for our cars at least. Get a real intake and a tune and you will be happier.
