Default RD mounts

My wife & I both run detectors. We have been using Super Cup mounts from Escort for a few years. While better than the old mount with 2 small cups, they seem to have a finite life. When my wife's recently gave up the ghost and started falling off, I decided to bite the bullet and put out the $80 for a Blendmount. This seems to be the way to go. It was a little sticky to mount in her Miata simply because the car is so small and since I am not, it took a bit of doing to get into position to tighten it up. I finally did, and no more worries about suction cups. I am planning to get one for my Mustang soon.

From what i read and researched, your suppose to mount the detector center of the windshield at the lowest point of the center on the windshield .When the troppers shoot your car they aim for the front bumper..

PA = Vascar... nothing detects it that I am aware of at this time.
DE = Mix of Laser, Vascar
MD only uses Laser from the Laser 'trucks' on the sides of the major roads and from State Troopers on 70. Around town, all of the county municipalities use Ka for the majority.

If you'd like a LOT of info on radar detectors and the 'guns' the popo use, I suggest checking out Radar Roy's page. Google it.

I read the opposite, center of the windshield up high. Probably doesn't make any difference.

Yeah Valentine recommends it be mounted high and centered to give it the best line of "sight" front and rear.

I'll dig a pic up when I get off work.

That is great. Almost what I am looking to do. Do you have any more pictures of the ceiling without the headliner?

And of what the headliner looks like on the side facing the ceiling?

Escort 9500. I use the tacky black pad on the center of the dash because I realize the detector is not foolproof and I want it out of sight if (when) I get pulled over. I have been using a radar detector since 1980, and I have never gotten a ticket when I had it on. I have been pulled over, but I have immediately slowed down and put the detector out of sight (after turning it off). Be sure to turn it off, or you are busted!
