Default Infinity Baselink all in one Sub and Amp...Worth it?

My question is pretty much in the title. I am looking for something simple to add to the trunk. I don't need anything that will shake the car, or the car next to me just looking for something a little better then stock. Has anyone used one or know someone who has? The reviews seem to be pretty good and the price is great (to good to be true?). I have the stock shaker 500 in the car now and just put in a new Pioneer double din this weekend. Would these system sound better or worse then the shaker 1000 series subs?

It worked good in my wifes pt cruiser. I was impressed with the sound quality. She didn't want to put it in her new car, so it's been sitting next to my motorcycles collecting dust. I'd put it in my car if I actually listened to my radio instead of the exhaust.

From what I've read from review on Crutchfield and sites, that powered sub has a nasty reputation for dying right outside of the warranty period. I think that you won't really get the bass you want out of it unless it's in the cabin. Most people say they put it under their seats. Not sure if there's enough room under the Mustang seats, but I'm sure it would mean even more of a lack of foot room for anyone in the back seat.

I personally went with the Bazooka BTA10250, but I didn't start out with the Shaker 500. So I had to put all new wiring in anyways, and I don't mind the loss of space in the trunk. It's pretty convenient, though, because all the connections are very easy to remove, and I can have it out of the car and in the house in under a minute.

Yeah whatever I end up with has to be mounted in the trunk. I will look into one of those base tubes as well though.

They are good, but they do die around 1 year. Especially if you live in a hot climate and it's mounted in the trunk. My first one died under warranty and my second one has been going for around 13 months. I am expecting it to die any day. I will be getting a different brand next time.

But you like the sound? What other brands are out there? I like the idea of all in 1 unit.

MTX made some at one point. Haven't really looked into them, just wanted to throw it out there.

I was thinking JL made some all in one units, too. It has been several years since I was in the car audio "scene" though. Might ask this question over in the audio forum.

You could get a used sub and box for your mustang for that price, and an amp for not much more. I would go that route, then you won't have to worry about it dying in a year.
I had a sub/amp combo that worked for 3 years without issues, Had I not sold them I could say for 4 years. Paid $400 or so for the whole setup including a custom box, so while that is more than double what you are looking at paying, I think it was worth it. That was all new equipment as well. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions.
