RE: Satellite radio
that one should, yes, using the FM modulator.
Without seeing it in person, I can't say whether you need to access the back of the radio for it to work. Some FM modulators require you to plug them in-line with the antenna, necessitating the removal of the radio. Others broadcast a low strength signal that doesn't require a direct connection. The signal quality is poorer and the signal is more prone to interference from local radio than the direct plug ones (which still face those problems, just to a lesser degree).
There is a company that advertised a module that works with the AUX input on the Shaker to wire in a direct connection, but from what I have read here, the product, when released, caused some unforeseen problems and has been (temporarily?) pulled.

RE: Satellite radio
I've got XM Satellite in my 2005. The XM unit transmits via an FM signal to your radio. The only wires you have to run are power (mine runs to the plug in the armrest, and the radio antenna which I ran and have sitting in the drivers corner of the dash. The Delphi unit gives you a number of FM channels to use, which are extremely easy to change if you have to.
I bought a cupholder mount for the unit and have it sitting in the cup holder closest to the shifter.
The unit works fine.
