2013 GT Auto - 3.31 vs 3.55 vs 3.73
I am about to order a 2013 GT Automatic. The car comes with the 3.31.
- Is the 3.31 limited slip like the 3.55 & 3.73?
- I will be using the GT as my DD and what are the differences between the 3.31 vs 3.55 vs 3.73? Gas mileage, faster shifts, ...
Anything you can tell me to help me with my decision.

Limited slip should work the same in any gear combo.
My suggestion would be to go to the highest gear ratio they offer. Much more fun, quicker accelerations. The gas mileage would be minor in difference between them, but the fun level would be significant. The car won't 'shift' faster or slower with any gearing, but will rev faster with the higher gearing, having it hit a shift point quicker.

The standard gear on '13 autos is 3.15 as far as I know. I think 3.55 is a good all-round choice. The differences with making one step in gearing (3.31-3.55-3.73) is not very noticeable. A two step change (3.31-3.73) makes more difference. I think you should drive one with the standard gear (since you say it will be a daily driver) before you make a final decision. 1st gear is pretty deep (low) on the auto.

My left knee started giving me trouble. Enough that I wasn't enjoying the '08 and decided to do something while it was still worth something. Funny thing is after several months, the knee is quite a bit better- I think less irritation of it. Yeah, I miss the manual some, it's more fun to drive, but the autos are pretty good and I've got what I've got.

Remember that with an automatic you have a much lower first gear than us with a manual. 4.17:1. My first suggestion would be to drive it around a while and see how it does for you. I would tune it. With the power band of these 5.0's, 3.31's may be what you are looking for. Duckbubbles is correct. A one step gear change is really not that noticeable. With that being said I had driven many 2012 GT's w/ 6 speed M w/ 3.31's and I was really surprised at the response when hammered on. Not even close to a 4.6 w/ 3:31's. A 4.17:1 first gear w/ 3.31 rear end may be what you are looking for IMHO.

As an Automatic owner who had 3.15s what mapitts noted is correct. The auto 1st gear is a friggin' beast, and has no problem laying rubber.
If you do change gears, if you go 3.73s with the auto it would be like having 4.10s in a manual. While it wouldn't spot on, it is very close, probably like a 4.05-4.08. I t will throw you in the seat even more than the 3.15s in auto do now.
