I've lost gas, temp and battery (in reverse order). I won't replace the darn thing till it all goes to hell.

Thanks again for the info! Greenville, SC is about 2 1/2 hours from me. I will definitely keep them in mind, once I decide to get all of the stepper motors replaced. ;-)

Ford does not sell the stepper morors individually, but you can get direct replacements from here (amazon.com)

its probably your stepper motors in the gauges. My brother had the same problem with his oil level gauge in his 05 v6. He did a how to write up on replacing the stepper motors.

Good luck, Kev!

Thanks for the info! The last time I soldered was in the 8th grade, which was a long time ago. Not sure how easy it would be for me to do. LOL

Yes the low gas light will come on, dealt with it for about a year. Like mentioned above I just kept track of my mileage on tanks...

According to my cluster:

Fuel is beyond empty at all times, the needle hangs down most of the time.
Engine temp is ice cold at all times.
Battery is dead at all times.
Engine idles at -500 RPMs at all times
Oil level is over flowing at all times.

I've been in this position for over a year now, just got the stepper motors in from Amazon and plan to do the fix in the next few weeks.

The gas light does still turn on at the appropriate time and if you have the message center, it will warn you when you are at <50 miles.

Good luck!
