A lot better - absolutely. I doubt most members here know how poor cars used to be in this respect, never mind how much worse they'd become after wear, tear, and the installation of ill-advised mods had taken their toll.

But as good as they have become, they are still compromise solutions. Have to be.

So are the kits and individually spec'ed combinations of parts. Only difference is that the compromises here weight the individual factors such as ride vs handling vs whatever else differently.

I swapped the springs on my friend's 08 pony package, it was some Eibach Pros on the stock suspension. After the install, we got in the car and drove it around and noticed an obvious improvement in body roll and center of gravity. However, you are going to have a rougher ride, and as several before me said (too many to read) it's going to wear your shocks and struts out faster. Also, if you go low enough it can alter how your rear axle sits. My PERSONAL opinion on the matter is to go ahead and save up for an aftermarket system and an adjustable panhard bar. Then you won't ever have to worry about how long before things start going out and you'll know that it's a complete system made to work well with it's other components. Since you said you won't be running the track, I'd recommend researching some non-adjustable suspension systems, you'd spend less money, and you'll get the results you want. Suspension is one of those things you never want to take chances on. Actually, I guess just Mustangs are one of those things you never want to take chances on.

Ride quality IS subjective and depending on the driver results may vary. What your idea of a better quality ride is vs. what another driver's idea of a better quality ride is could be completely different. Just saying.
