only getting 187 miles to empty at full tank.

I believe you're correct. But my personal issue with even paying attention to "Miles to Empty" is that it can read "0" and you still have an unknown amount of fuel in the tank in most cases so it's use as a comparison from one tank to the next is pointless, unless you're tracking the exact # of miles you drive until you literally run out of fuel (and who's stupid enough to do that?).
With that being said I think the onboard computer, at least mine, has been very accurate in determining miles till empty. I mean, every aspect of the fuel is determined by the computer... Your odometer, computer.. Your computer also knows much much fuel is left... So in theory, it knows how much it is using and how much you've gone and it can then do the math to tell what your average miles till empty would be. It changes on the fly based on your usage, etc.
Anyway, with all that being said I really can't tell you Op. Unless they are doing something with the gas then I'm not sure. My car used to average 300-320. Then it started averaging around 220. I cleaned everything, changed everything, and relocated and now I'm seeing 260-280.

The best way to increase the miles to empty is to remove the lead from your shoes... but that's no fun.
But seriously, the colder the air, the more fuel that has to be added to keep the A/F at a given level. The car shouyld also be peppier.
