So a shop tells me i have a bent rocker arm...is it true?
So i have been developing this tapping/popping noise from an engine and finally decide to take it into a shop to have it checked out. The noise is quite when the car is in neutral or park, but is pretty loud when in drive or any other gear.
The shop listened and immediately told me its a rocker arm on the passenger side. After they took it in and kept it for about 40 minutes, they stated they pulled a manifold off and confirmed that the passenger side rocker arm is bent.
The car has 120k miles and drives fine, no misfire to my knowledge or odd idle. Just that damn noise, which is getting louder to my knowledge.
So before I drop the cash ($250) to get it fixed, what do you guys think?
How does a rocker arm just bend? Is there an underlying issue, or do they happen to bend every once in a while?
Have any of you had this issue before?
