BAMA Hybrid Tune
#12
So the BAMA Race/Hybrid tune will not pass emissions testing? Anyone running the race tune as their daily tune?
Just curious - any specific details on this and why? - please be as technical/detailed as possible with regards to specific parameters that would affect the emissions testing. I guess I would/should not be wanting to run a race/hybrid tune as my "day-to-day" tune but use it only on occasion?
Asking because I am deciding on which 3 BAMA tunes to order. Note: Emissions testing is not required in my area but may be interesting for some members. I do though, want to get the most aggressive performance safely possible for daily use. Economy is not a factor in my case - improved throttle response, more aggressive shift points and increased/optimum torque at 1200 - 4500 rpm are key so this tune sounds good.
Thanks for any input on this as I have never run a tune on any of my previous 4 manual GTs and this tune sounded interesting - might give it a try instead of the race tune.
Note: I now have a 2012 GT Automatic - 100% stock with only plans for GT500 exhaust and maybe 3.73 gears in the future..

Both the Race & Hybrid tunes do not have economy in mind. The main focus is maximum power and potential for Racing. For that reason, we turn off the rear O2 sensors in both Race & Hybrid tunes. Without the rear O2 sensors active, there won't be any KAM memory for the emissions testing to read, which is why they won't pass.
Again, it's perfectly safe to run any of our Bama Performance tunes daily. The best part about being in our Free Tunes for Life program is the ability to request new tunes whenever you please. You don't have to figure out exactly which octane levels and styled tune is best for you right off the bat. You can always come back and order a different style/octane for free!

Sure can! The Hybrid tune is available in 89, 91, 92, and 93 octane.

Every tune Bama Performance offers is safe to use every day, period. We simply do not suggest to run the Race or Hybrid tune everyday because some customers feel the throttle response is too sensitive or the fuel economy is not supreme.

Yes to both questions! The gas mileage is very similar to the Race tunes.

Just didn't seem to have the same oooomph as the race tune. Maybe I just got used to the race tune I dunno. Overall didn't have that OMG Feeling like I did the first time I loaded the 93 race tune.

Just a quick question regarding the Hybrid tune. I just received my Bama SCT tuner and I have 87S, 87P, and 93R files on the tuner. I did request that the race tune be replaced with a 93 octane hybrid tune. Question is, should the file actually have a "93H" at the end of it, or will it still be "93R" even if the hybrid tune was requested?

So is Nyke's post a confirmation that the 93H tune does NOT have as tight of a throttle response in the lower RPMs?
If I go back to the 93R, will I feel any difference from stock below 4K RPM?
So much information being thrown around, it'd be nice to see a dyno of the two tunes on the same car. Maybe I can do that in the fall.
