Will my engine detonate if I add the whipple HO
I was wondering about this. If i use my stock bottom end and add the whipple HO will the engine most likely detonate? I didnt plan on forging just yet and i only plan to upgrade the clutch. At the same time i dont want a recipie for disaster. The car has 95000miles.Will i be safe? anyone done it? and will the high mileage affect this?

It's all about the tune, the end of the safe hp range for the 4.6 is 450hp, with a spot-on tune you shouldn't have a problem and could push it somewhat further just don't be reving past the 6k mark and you would be fine. I'm adding the D.O.B setup and am planning for 440-450 range, one of the D.O.B guys was running slightly over 500hp for a while before the bottom end gave out.

I ran the Whipple HO with the 3.125 pulley for about 1.5 years on the stock ford racing tune at about 450 RWHP, then about 6 months on a dyno tune @ 467 RWHP, then after some shorty headers/62MM throttle body, aluminum flywheel and driveshaft, about a year @ 502RWHP on another dyno tune. All tunes kept the stock rev limiter at 6250 and WOT air/fuel at 12.0
No problems with my stock block (it actually did quite a bit more power while being the Guinea pig for the TT setup, but that isn't sustainable, so the stock block is being retired).
The ford racing tune is perfectly safe for the HO Whipple.

I've been over 500rwhp for a long time. I BEAT on this car. 4000+ rpm clutch dumps on slicks, powershifting, over 250 passes at the drag strip. Stock block. Stock internals. Stock heads. Stock transmission. Stock rear end. Good tune. Just ran a personal best of 11.30@122 wednesday night.

It might be worth while to have the engine decarbonized with that many miles. Or at least run a few cans of seafoam through the tank.
I've had more trouble with aftermarket COPS than with the actual whipple kit. Even my original intercooler pump is still going. I've put 33,000 miles on the kit in 5 1/2 years. I have a short commute and have other vehicles.

My '07 has been at 538 whp on Stock bottom end for past 4 1/2 years.
Great Dyno Tune (Steeda) that's checked each spring, at 11 psi with 3.25 pulley, Sunoco 94 octane, and shifting at 6000 rpm's. Absolutely No issues at all...!!
Currently retiring Short Block and Heads and going with Brenspeed B326 Stroker with FRPP CNC Ported heads..
