Default looking at an '06 gt

Hey everybody, came across a very clean convertible 2006 gt in my area, with just under 42k miles. Medium parchment interior, black vinyl top, windveil blue in color. The color really does look great, and no imperfections that i have noticed yet. They are asking 17.5k (listed on the window). I believe it is a fair price, but no doubt i will need them to come down to about 16-16.5k to even consider it. I would have a pretty decent down payment as well.

Here is a link to it: http://www.westherr.com/find-a-car/d...T85H065242939/

Any concerns or something i should be aware of? what are your thoughts on this?

like i said its far from a definite, just considering it as of now. Thanks everybody!

not necessarily wanted a google search, just wanted people's opinions on the car, color, price, etc.

Sounds way high. You can get very clean '05 and '06 GT's for $11k to 14K and I recently heard on this forum that someone found an '05 GT for about $10k in very good condition. I paid $13.5k for an '06 V6 loaded with only 9,600 miles 4 years ago.

yeah but i think it may be my area? Ive done searches and 05/06 gt's around here go for about 18k-20k (~35k miles, great condition, convert).

Seems like you want people to do your research for you. There is a search function for the forum and a Google search for the TSBs will give you all the info you need to know about common concerns/issues. Good luck with your purchase. Windveil Blue is a great color and you don't see it very often.

Since I just completed my search for a new Mustang -

Do not believe the Carfax. A clean Carfax does NOT mean it is accident free. You want to be sure it wasn't in an accident? Put it on a lift and physically inspect it. No other way to be sure. Feel the paints edges and eye the body gaps. Best way is to have a mechanic you trust take a look at it.

Personally, I'd sacrifice a bit on mileage to get an 07-09. Little differences. Like an auxilliary plugin built into the car (not just a frustrating button on the head unit that does nothing)

Updated Mycolor option - etc.

This coming from the guy that's on his second 2006 GT...

I love these cars. Just assume the car was beat to death and let it prove you wrong if it can.

*ALSO - Windveil Blue is a great color.

Thanks man. To be honest, it's really a luck of the draw kind of deal. If you take a mechanic with you to inspect the vehicle thoroughly and feel it's in good condition, you should be fine. I bought my '06 at 30k miles and am at ~90k miles now with 0 (knock on wood) issues. Car has been great to me and I'm very glad to have it. Just don't settle with the first car you see if you don't think it's right. Test drive it and you'll know.

great replies guys thank you. Also, i forgot to mention i have 2 other cars im interested in. A 2001 cobra convertible 48k miles http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...Index=11&Log=0

and a 2005 gt convertible with 23k miles http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...Index=48&Log=0.
tail lights would have to go, but other than that it looks good. traveling isnt really an issue to go look at the cars, so im not too worried about that. I like the sound of owning a cobra, but not sure. input on these?
