I made my own catch can using an air filter (for compressed air systems)- but I added one of those copper kitchen scrubbies to it as others have suggested. I also didn't want something too fine. I get about 1/2 cup of 'oil' (and other ****) in about 3000 miles. There is a cintered brass air diffuser in it too. Doesn't look as nice as a nice chrome or black CC - but it works.
Here's a couple pics of my setup and UPR media. I have "2" catch cans on the drivers side. The winter weather causes a lot of water vapor mixed with oil and "2" catch cans ensures my air is clean to the SuperCharger.
I like the Moroso can. It looks good and has a valve on the bottom to drain the oil. I had about 2.5 ounces when I drained mine about 4500 miles after install.
I use the Moroso and it kicks ***. Will pick up a noticeable about of oil after just 300 miles or so. Comes with the wool stuff in it but with it blocked off to where it can't be sucked into your motor...
Guys, keep in mind - if you add too much restriction to the system, you could cause premature oil contamination and crankcase pressure, which causes other issues (along with the issue you're trying to prevent in the first place; oil in the combustion chamber). I can picture it being possible to create more windage/suspended oil vapor by restricting the flow - then causing even more actual oil to accumulate in the catch can.
