2008 V6 MUSTANG - NOTICED PROBLEM WHEN IDLING
 

I have a 2008 V6 Mustang, has about 96,000 miles on it. I've noticed a few things have been happening lately with my car. First the harmonic balancer went to ****, along with the belt. My car has been running fine, except I noticed yesterday when I was on my way home from work, about 7 mins from house when I started to slow down to 10mph or lower coming up to the stop light and when idling at the light, my car started to shake a bit (felt it was coming from the engine), not so much jerk and if so it was a very light jerking. Any idea? Thanks :)

A common idle issue withe these S197's; 4.0L and 4.6L alike; is due to a dirty Throttle Body (TB). It's very easy to clean. Be sure to buy a proper TB cleaner (explain to the guy at the auto parts store) and use a lint-free rag. Unbolt the TB, clean and reuse the old gasket.

Additionally, if the fuel filter hasn't been replaced in the last 30k to 40k miles, now's a good time also. There are a few other things to do/check but those 2 are often the higher percentage items related to idle problems, especially when rolling to a stop.
