When I converted to duals, I used the Pypes Street Pro that came with the kit. They have the same exact problem. They're loud, and drone terribly inside the cabin.

What happens with a lot of aftermarket mufflers, they aren't tuned correctly, or at all for the 4.0 engine. The main resonance frequencies of the muffler align with the RPMs at highway speeds (slightly above 2k for me).

I fixed this problem by switching to Magnaflow (specifically the ones from AM http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-m...xhaust-gt.html) They still gave me that nice deep, muscle sound with more volume over stock, but there is absolutely no drone. These will decrease your volume a bit, however.

Crank the sound system up or wear ear plugs. You can't have it both ways. But if it's drone you're talking about, then swap the axleback with one with less drone.

A loud S197 V6.... I simply can't imagine that being "pleasing".
