Default K&N filter worth any hp?

Just bought a K&N drop in filter to replace the stock one on my 13 GT. Engine seems to respond a little more crisply, just wondering if the filter is worth an hp.

You need a good quality custom tune and a CAI. As far as K&N filters, go to this. www.bobistheoilguy.com. Lots of good reading.

Thanks for the reply, and link too. The K&N filter is coming off and will be returned to Pep Boys and the stock paper filter will go back in.

Nothing like leaping before you look.

It's bad enough I did just that, but I didn't need to read it too. You know how hard the mod bug bites, I just wanted to start before I looked into the +'s and -'s.

Rock on Nuke.

A common occurence. Fortunately, it wasn't an expensive one.

Don't be too hard on yourself! There are a few cold air intakes that do not require any tuning. That being said, steer clear of those set-ups. They offer nominal gains for the money you'll spend. The majority of your gains (typically 20-30hp) with a cold air intake come from the tune itself. Going to American Muscle and buying a CAI and a Bama tune will reap you great gains and you'll be ecstatic with the mod!!
