CEL P0053 AFTER changing o2 (3 times) what could be causing this?
I have a check engine light with code p0053. I changed out both oxygen sensors (bank 1 and bank 2) yet im still getting the code even after clearing. Car runs fine (tiny bit rough but might just be from a long time since last service) but every once and awhile when I first start the car and accelerate down the street/highway ill experience a lack of power for a few seconds, this only happens right after I start the car and not very often.
Anyone experience something similar?
2005 mustang v6
Thanks

P0053 FORD - HO2S Heater Resistance Bank 1 Sensor 1.
If replacing the sensor didn’t fix it then the problem is with your wiring somewhere. The computer is detecting an excessive amount of resistance on the heater circuit of the Bank 1 Pre-Cat O2 sensor. Time to poke around with a volt/multi-meter and a wiring diagram to find the problem. Shouldn’t be too hard. Voltage Drop tests are your friend here.
That is not an O2 problem. When the motor is cold the computer doesn’t even listen to the O2 sensors. It takes a little while for the motor to warm up and go into closed loop (start to listen to the O2 sensors).
Good luck...

Also Im noticing my guage cluster, one of the guages will randomly be off, like the RPM guage will be 1000 rpm off or my battery guage will be 1/2 way in the wrong direction, would this have something to do with it as well?
