Default My one dislike with the 2013 GT

Love driving it and running the roads. As part of the Track Pack option on the car is the 3:73 gears. This low gear ratio, low for the street at least, may have an adverse effect with the gas mileage as well as being directly proportional to my right foot. The window sticker says 16 city & 26 highway. I don't know how Ford came up with 26 mpg for the hwy, must have been a GT with the stock rear gears, because I get a best of 23 mpg and 13-14 city. Only 4600 miles on it so far so maybe it'll get better as the engine gets broken in, but I would think it's broken in by now........especially the way I drive it.

Are you other Coyote engine 11-13 GT owners getting the same mileage, or are you getting better?

Mines worse lol best I have got after a 2 hour freeway drive was 16mpg. From what I've heard from other folks with the 5.0 is your lucky to see 20.

I'm stumped why you're not getting the advertised fuel mileage... REALLY stumped... Wonder what it could possibly be....

I know why I don't I never use cruise control on long trips. I like to be able to feel what the car is doing.

You will get the advertised gas mileage if you cruise at a steady speed on the freeway (60-70mph). In my 06 GT, I have 4.10s and I still can get around 27 mpg if I cruise around 65 miles per hour... However, it's a mustang and we didn't buy these cars to cruise at these speeds to get great mileage. It's a V8. Gas mileage isn't that important.

I hear what you guys are sayin, but really I'm not pounding on it all the time. Just driving 1st, 3rd, 5th and cruise at 40-50 mph on the city streets or 2nd, 4th, 6th if the city streets are 55 mph. Freeways are 75 mph @ 2200 rpm. I wish the digital readout wasn't the 4 piece graph for instantaneous, but what the actual instantaneous mileage was. It ain't a big deal, heck I didn't buy the GT with the Track Pack only for a cruiser................

I used to live in Calif, now in Nevada, and I know if you drive on the freeways and 60-70 mph, you better be in the RH lane and then you'll still get run over by semi's instead of cars if you are in the LH lanes. I cruise the freeways at 75 and out of the LH lane> I leave that lane for the idjits around Las Vegas/Henderson.

EPA estimated MPG is configured in a laboratory.. under an "idea" driving conditions scenario on a dynamo-meter. the only environmental factor they input is front wind resistance..

So with that said, there's no road conditions, uphill/downhill, wind sheer <sides> or push <rear>, or turning as that does increase friction <increases fuel consumption> calculated into their Estimates. If you're seeing 23mpg on the hwy that's pretty outstanding. Also these HWY numbers are assuming a top vehicle speed of 60mph on the hwy.

Isn't that the truth. You want to feel 400 hp? Guess what, no car putting out that kind of power has good mpg. The same can be said of the new v6, 300 hp and good gas mileage is an oxymoron too. These cars can get decent mpg, if they are cruising around well under those power thresholds.

You can switch it off the four piece graph just arrow over when that app is selected. It has two graph modes. But to boost the mpg you have to be able to get into 6th gear and hold it for along time.
