Default Steeda CAI cleaning

I have a Steeda CAI that I'm cleaning per the instructions on the cleaning kit.

Will it return to that lovely shade of blue? It's still a bit gray and I'll reapply the cleaner again if I need to. Don't want to waste my time if it won't.

Not sure about the Steeda filters but with my K&N and Green Filters, they lost their color after being washed but the oil spray returned them to red (it was dyed). What color is the oil in the Steeda kit?

It depends on the color off the oil kit you use. S&B is blue and K&N is red.

Steeda uses the S&B filter I do believe.

Just lightly oil it and let it sit for a bit and reapply if needed, when it comes to filter oil less is more, it only needs a light coating.

Best Regards,

TJ

Thanks for the tips everyone.

The "after cleaning" is what mine looks like now.

Looks like I need the right oil.

I have a Steeda and an aftermarket cleaning/re-oiling kit with blue oil. After the oiling, it wasn't quite as blue as the original, new color but it was close.

I'm sorry, but what's S&B? My BBK intake filter is blue and it's already been over a year since I put it on and I've never cleaned it. I'm hoping to do it soon and would need the blue oil.

When I bought the recharge kit, I didn't pay attention to the oil color. I just assumed it was neutral but I ended up with red. I'm glad I asked about the color on here prior to oiling it. I went around locally looking for just the oil (blue of course) and the auto parts stores didn't carry it and some hadn't heard of it.

I didn't have time to wait for it to be shipped because I needed to drive my car (would it have hurt to drive it briefly without the oil on the filter?) I finally had to buy another recharge kit with clear oil (I believe it is Spectre) until I can find blue oil. I don't need any more cleaner, so hopefully I can find just a bottle of oil.
