Default trading in the 4.0 for a 5.0?

Hey guys I am just curious on how much you guys paid for your 2013 BASE 5.0 GTs. I am looking to trade in my 06 4.0 for a 2014 DIB V6 PP which i already ordered, or walking away from that and looking to getting a barebones MT82 5.0 GT base as you can get. Im curious if anybody has gotten one for around 25K. I am putting down 4K and I want my payments to stay in the $400 range.

I am just worried about the 3.7 not having enough power to satisfy me. You cant just tell in one test drive if you will be satisfied in a cars performance in the long run. I promised myself that I would never buy another V6 pony car, but then I saw videos on youtube of a bolt on 3.7 running a 12.9 and I was very impressed. I dont want a repeat of the feelings with my 4.0 and the embarrassment of looking at almost every car and knowing you would lose to it. That along with the ****ty gas mileage my car gets really took the enjoyment out of the car for me. It sucks too that i owe 12.5 on the 06 with 90K miles on it. speaking of that, what would be a good trade in number on the 06?

Did I read it right? You owe 12,500 on your car still. What are they giving you on trade for the 14 Mustang? It sounds like you are upside down already before you trade. Just wondering how the dealer was figuring the math. As far as take off, I have more bottom end than the 3.7 with my 4.0 but I lose out at higher rpms. If you are looking for a light to light runner, go with the base 5.0 and build it to your liking. I don't think you'll be happy with the 3.7 for what you were describing.

Go with the GT. That's how I wound up spending over 10k on my 4.0 to get it somewhat respectable. Modding your car is great fun, but also expensive.

Go with the 5.0! You already said that you don't want a repeat, so learn from that and move up to the 5.0! Also, being that you're $12k in the hole on the '06 you would be better off paying off your new loan rather than wasting money trying to get your V6 to be something that it is not, a 5.0. I don't know how you feel about a used 5.0, but I picked up my '12 GT Premium Convertible for $25k. Soooo, getting a lightly used GT with low mileage shouldn't be too hard to find in the $20-25k price range.

How in the hell do you owe $12.5K on an '06 V6? I only paid $13,200 for my GT when I bought it 2 years ago, with 53K on it!

I PAID $13.5k for the wife's '06 V6 (loaded) with only 9,600 miles on it in early 2009.

Regardless, the 5.0 is the way to go.

If it were me I would go for the 5.0! I am sooooooo tempted to sell mine and get a 2013 or '14 but I want to see what Ford does to the new 2015 Mustang first. Don't get me wrong, I love my Mustang....only 11K miles on it and it was paid for the day I bought it brand new. I owned a 5.0 once and in a small way, I kind of miss owning one.
