07 v6 dual exhaust conversion; need some advice!
So I'll be converting to dual exhaust; I'm mainly looking into a catback system with an x pipe. I've been researching magnaflow, bassani, pypes, borla, flowmaster, etc. I can't seem to get my head around what I'd like to be going for.
I love the old school sound; the deep rumble at low rpm's. I'd also like 3"-4" tips.
If any of you have any tips or advice on what to be looking for with a budget below $700, please feel free to give me your thoughts.
Thanks!

With the 4.0? I don't think so... Unfortunately, the 4.0 just doesn't have the valving and move enough air to give you the V8 rumble. NOTHING in the way of exhaust will give you what I believe you're looking for. The only 1/2 decent 4.0 exhaust note is with an SC along with an exhaust conversion.

Tried different mufflers and ended up just coming back to stock GT mufflers, they sound the best on our v6's and are not obnoxious. Any after market muffler I tried/heard droned like crazy. Had MAC mufflers on my car for a short time and it was unbearable. Thinking about cutting and welding 4" tips onto the stock mufflers one day. I also just did the y-pipe conversion so I didn't have to cut any factory pipes to install.

I used pypes x pipe, mid pipe with two GT mufflers....very happy with the sound and looks. Nuke is right that it's not the same as the rumble from a V8, BUT, it most certainly sounds waaaaaay better than the putt-putt stocker! I do get a lot of compliments.

I've converted using the Pypes Dual Conversion Kit form AM. The mufflers that come with the kit are loud, though. All depends on what you like. I love the X-Pipe in the kit matched with the Maganflow Axlebacks (also from AM). That kit and the mufflers would run you over $700 though. Not sure about the full dual conversion offered by Magnaflow, maybe that'll be worth a look.

American Muscle "Pro Box" $299 it's an H-Pipe but it looks like a steel box the size of a phone book at the H, gives you that rumble. Most people think you have a V-8, it's worth the $. Ford Racing CAI, BBK 70mm Throttle Body, Long Tube Headers, High flow cats,
Pro Box, GT Mufflers. 3.73 Posi with 5 spd. Mod the suspension. It's a 4.0 Air in Exhaust out real fast is the best you can do. Super Chrg? your pressed pistons and 11:1 compression won't take that. Forget cams - your timing chain driver side front, psg side to the rear. Have to pull motor for cams on a 4.0 not worth it.
