Default 2006 mustang overheated now it won't start

Hi everyone, I need some help trying to trouble shoot my mustangs problem. My car over heated on a day where it was blistering hot. Later inspection of the car seemed that the coolant had leaked causing the over heat plus the heat of the day didn't help. A friend told me it could possibly be a coolant sensor malfunction because the gas pump turns on but the ignition won't crank. Any ideas???

Could you see the temp. rising from the gauge or did it stay the same?

There is nothing in the coolant system that would cause a no crank condition.

Does the starter crank the engine?
