We are now a vendor for the pinch weld Magnetic Jack Pad that can be used on most all late model Mustangs. I have sent some out to members under the username Skylane765. I am the same person. The jack pad was made to jack the Zl1 up because there was not anywhere to jack the car up with out going in so far under the car.

We make a modified magnetic jack pad for the Mustang and you can see it at www.zl1addons.com

I was just thinking a couple weeks ago that there needs to be something like this!

Why is it so tall though? If the jacking surface isn't perfectly flat, isn't there a risk it will apply a twisting load to the pinch seam?

It goes around the pinch weld and rests on the inner floor deck along with the bottom of the pinch weld.

The reason it is tall is because the lower rocker cover comes down low and covers the pinch weld on some mustangs. We are working on the design for each mustang at this time. We have made some mods. With out the pad the jack or lift would touch the rocker cover on the mustangs I have seen, now some do not need the pad if the pinch weld is below the rocker cover. The pinch weld will not fold over it is made to be lifted at the four corners with the jack that comes with the car.
Unibody cars are made to be jacked up at the pinch weld, that is why if you look at your jack that comes with the car it has a slotted top like the pad.

No, it will not twist the pinch weld, it will lift at the bottom of the pinch weld and the edge of the floor pan together.

The tall jack pad is for the con caved jack tops. Yes you want the top of the jack to be flat if possible.
