Switching to a 5.0 from a 4.6
Im planning on selling my beloved 08 GT for around 19-20k, which is around what ive been offered here by some private parties, im looking for 2011-2012 premium GTs that have no more than 30k miles. Since i live in mexico i and i will buy it in texas, ive been looking at online dealership inventories and noticed that they go from ~24-30k. One of my friends works at a delearship and told me that you can usually haggle down 10% of the price they are asking, but thats in mexico im not sure if dealerships work the same in the US.
Basically what im asking is how much can i expect to pay CASH for a 11 or 12 decently miled premium GT and if anyone can provide any tips as to how haggling works in the US

How much are you wanting to pay? Right now a new 2013 has a $3000 factory rebate, then you can usually get another $3000+ dealer discounts so you should be able to get $6000+ off a new 2013 putting the price for a GT premium at or below $30000. If you aren't wanting to spend that much you can probably get a good used one for below the 25k. Best thing to do on price is research NADA and see what dealers are paying for them (trade in value) and go from there. Each dealer is different when dealing with a used car because you never know what they actually have in the car. New cars are different because each Ford dealer paid the same for the car from Ford so you know exactly how much you can expect them to take off with discounts and rebates.

My thoughts exactly. I keep seeing seven to eight year old cars on Craigslist for a grand or two less than what I paid for my `13 and wondering to myself if it has a bar of gold in the trunk.
Contrary to popular belief, cash lowers your bargaining power at a dealership. If a dealer thinks you will finance that leaves him room on the back end, extended warranties, protection plans, roadside assistance, etc... that he can tack on. If you walk in and play hardball, the dealer knows he has X in the car, you will pay Y. The dealer's profit is simple, and they don't always like that.
The suggested method is to go into a dealership and find the car you want, and not mention how you will pay for it. Wheel and deal, get your price in writing, and then say 'Thanks' and go to the window and pay it.

I paid $20K for an '08 GT with only 9000 miles on it...In 2010!
On the haggling, check the Kelly Blue Book values (KBB.com) and get in your mind what they are worth. When you find one, get their "best" price, and unless you think it is a great bargain, leave. They will call. Then, make an offer!

Thats cause i live in Mexico, Mustangs are waaaaaaaay more expensive here, Shelby's run for nearly 90,000k and a normal gt premium will run for nearly 50k, si im going to use this difference in prices to my advantage
plus i should say its a convertible premium gt with every option mexican dealears could offer, and has little more than 30k miles on it
