I read that the top speed is around 147mph...due to aerodynamic drag. Anyone? feel free to correct...

Depending on tailwind, grade, etc. It will do 152 mph. Don't ask how I know, professional driver, closed course, all that. I had, I mean, that would be with a different rear diff, say 3.55s.

What do you have the redline set at? I think that the 3.31 gears are going to really hurt any acceleration in 5th. You should get to the top of 4th easy, but 5th won't pull much at all. With 3.55 and Whipple supercharger (and everything else pretty much stock) I was able to get to to 157 in the standing mile. I think you could hit 145, but 150 would be pushing it.

That's about wat I was thinking. I was gonna say 155 tops. Man I love my GT lol.
Got done with fireworks tonight. Took me and 2 other friends for a 6-7 mile drive on a straight. Asked me wat the top speed was. I said idk probably 145-160. Got it up to 100. Then shut it down. Just a quick sprint. They always like to see the 3 digit mark. "man this car is bad" I always like to hear that lol. Gonna keep it forever

I can give you a pretty good idea if you can provide reasonable firm numbers for torque, HP, and the rpms at which they occur. Plus redline if much different than OE. It differs only slightly depending on your axle gears, but this does matter a little.

I will assume that any speed limiter is disabled (there seems to be one that kicks in somewhere in the low 140's that doesn't much matter for a stock 4.6L GT).

the continental tire challenge cars with the 5.0L cammer engine and 400hp top out around 165-170 mph due to aerodymanic drag so thats probably as good as you will ever get.

It's no big deal if you're out on a road course with a long enough straight. Even if none of your other driving gets within 30 - 35 mph of that.

It's like nothing at all with good shocks and a better wheel and tire package than the early GTs came with.

I wouldn't even think about going 120+ on any public road that wasn't closed for a special performance event (Silver State, Texas Mile, etc.).
