Installing LCA's NOW, Need Help
I'm stepping away from it now, hopefully when I go back I'll realize I'm being a bonehead and am missing something real obvious.
If not and I don't figure it out, here's whats up. I just took off my driver's side lower control arm. Started bolting up the new BMR LCA, got the bolt in one side and lifted it up and it's at least an inch short from lining up in the front. WTF??? Today I also put on BMR springs, STR.T's and a BMR panhard. I know about LCA relocation brackets, but I thought they would be optional (And ideal, I know) not mandatory. I put LCA's on my lowered '06 with no relocation bracket no problem... Headed back out. |
the axle shifts. you'll need to push it into place. if it's too far back and you have ratchet straps you can use that to help you get it into place.
or have somebody help position the axle while you put the bolt in or vice versa. or push/pull with all your might while trying to get that damned bolt through(can you tell i've done this so recently the annoyance of the shifting still burns deep) |
I wondered if that was the case. Interesting. I'm alone. Macgyver time!

Just stick a pry bar in there and move it back. Piece of cake.
|
Mine didn't shift that much. I was able to poke a screw driver into one side of the bracket and pry it to line up. Then inserted the bolt into the other side and remove the screw driver.
|
I did almost the same suspension setup (strt, eibach pro, umi lca, relocation, panhard bar) a couple weeks ago.
In order for the LCAs to be installed, you need the struts to be there. otherwise, the axle will be too low / too far out. try to bolt the konis, then bolt the LCAs |
I got it done, finally. My ratchet straps were too weak, I had to get creative and show it some love with a bar spreader, a floor jack and the weak ratchet strap but finally got it.
Thanks for confirming it was just the axle that shifted and nothing more crazy.

Guess it's different for everyone. I've always been able to manipulate the rear axle pretty significantly by hand with an LCA disconnected.

BMR LCA's with Whiteline Lower Control Brackets. Has anyone done these at home? Might need to do a little welding. |
