i am wondering the same thing. Does it actually do anything to just go bigger after the Mid-pipe other than sound. i mean i noticed a sound change going to a bigger tip with muffler deletes. I wouldn't think it would do anything without going all the way and doing a full 3" system.

On my car I'm running all Magnaflow from shorties back, including high flow CATS, X pipe, and 3" CAT back to Magnapacks. In my opinion, it's one of the best setups I've heard, and get complimented every time I take the car out. +1 for the 3"!

hmm didn't realize there would be gains from going 3" part way through. Learn something new everyday.

There is a HUGE difference in sound.

Deeper, louder.

5hp compared to what? Just wondering.

I figure the 5.0 can actually justify 3" exhaust, for the 4.6 it just seems a tad on the large side.

5hp compared to the stock 2.5" from the X pipe to the mufflers
