Default Strut removal 05 Mustang GT

Hey everyone. I'm hoping there is a simple answer to my question. I have been stuck trying to get the strut to spindle bolt off on my car for a day or so now and I don't know if I'm missing something obvious to get it off. It's the 2 bolts that connect the strut to the a frame. I've tried an impact gun and using a breaker bar but these bolts aren't moving. I don't know if I'm missing something obvious like a lock on them or something. This is a link to the guide that I've been using. It's #6 in the guide. http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/files/11springs-cust.pdf

On both of my GTs, the L shaped tab rotated until it hit the strut and then the bolt spun out. They came loose pretty easy. There was no lock or anything...You are supposed to replace these bolts anyway, so just cut them off?

EDIT: I did use adjustable camber bolts going back together, they dont cost much.

8 years in . . . probably rusted . . . get a bigger breaker bar or borrow somebody's 3/4 drive set. Those fasteners were installed to 148 ft-lbs, which is half again what the wheel lugnuts are supposed to be torqued down to.

If the bolt breaks, no harm done because Ford went to stronger fine-thread fasteners a few years later (yours are coarse thread). You want the new ones (all four).

The little flag on the nut probably won't be strong enough once you've broken the bolt loose, so plan on using two wrenches.

A 24" breaker bar made quick work of removing those bolts for me. Might try applying some PB Blaster on the threads and let it sit overnight.

That's pretty much it. Soak 'em and just muscle it out however you can...bigger breaker, bigger impact gun, whatever it takes.

Any success on this? Make sure you have the socket over the bolt head side and not nut side. The only other thought might be someone had previously serviced the struts and applied red loc-tite on the bolt threads.

Do you have an update for us? Any luck popping these off?

All these guys have definitely pointed you in the right direction. There's no real trick to getting these bolts on, you just need to hit them with some WD-40 or PB Blaster and then grab a break bar/impact gun and hit them pretty hard!
