To me, both the V6 and the V8 have their places. Driving in bumper to bumper traffic 500 HP won't get you home any faster than 300. I also wouldn't want to take my Camaro on a long road trip because that 15% loss in efficiency plus the added expense of premium over 87 octane starts to add up. But, if your willing to get up early when the roads are not busy, it is a blast to drive on the commute to work.

But if I ever start to think my V6 Mustang is a little too slow, all I need to do is drive my 6.2L diesel powered 1982 Chevy truck...

There will always be pluses and minuses to each... brand new (apples and apples) a v6 has better gas mileage and might be better for someone who has speeding tickets or is a newer driver, you'll get into less trouble. And of course can be up to $10k cheaper (a fully loaded v6 vs. a base GT is what, $5k difference?)

V8 has slightly worse gas mileage, but you get over 100 more hp. I just don't get why guys get a brand new v6, only to drop thousands of dollars on mods to try and add 50hp. But hey with my last platform (3000GT), i got the base model and wanted the VR4 (twin turbos and AWD) very very badly. But I was 17.

With my new job, a 25 mile commute 1-way, leaving at 6:30am rather than 7:20am is the way to do it. I don't have to stop and accelerate over and over, and don't even have to come to a complete stop except maybe once. I went from 17mpg to 21mpg doing this. And to go fast, I just leave about 10 car lengths in front of me, then floor it in 2nd.. definitely wakes me up.

Regardless, congrats OP.. the newest v6's look real good.
