I'm getting a Roush stage II kit installed this upcoming week and my plan was to go with the Roush factory calibration (send the ECU to Roush) for now. I was just reading on a chat board that if you go with the Roush calibration you cannot later get a SCT tuner and a tune because aftermarket tuners cannot read the Roush calibration. Anyone know if this is true? I hate to think that if I'm not happy with the very conservative Roush tune that I could not go another route later on.

That is not completely true. Some people have issues with trying to tune a Roush tuned car but it can be done. The problem comes in (as I understand it) as Roush has the computer "locked" (someone correct me if I am wrong) and the new tuner (Bama, Steeda) has to send a factory tune to the car first before you can install a new custom tune.

Again I have no interaction with Roush tunes, this is just my limited understand on what I have read. There is a link on my Facebook about it. Let me see if I can find it....

Thanks for the input, I also posted this question on another board and received several response's. It seems that loading a tune with the SCT tuner will not be an issue but it's debatable on doing a custom dyno tune once the Roush calibration is put on the ECU. I can live with that. I hope I'm happy with the 540-550 RWHP that the Roush tune provides but who knows....... LOL

MM&FF did a stage II install and sent
the PCM for Roush Calibration.
They later modified the "super safe"
Roush 'calibration' for more output on the Dyno.
How they did it was not discussed
other than a SCT tuner was used.
Your Roush warranty dies when you

Thanks that's good to know. Yes I'm aware it will kill the Roush warranty. I'm hoping to keep the Roush calibration for at least a year to ensure the kit is working well, kind of like what I did with the car itself. If I did get a custom tune I won't be going over 600 RWHP since I have no plans on building up the engine so I don't know if 50hp is worth the cost of the custom tune or mail tune is worth it or not. Oh what a problem to have LOL.

I read the same article. Started with the stock Roush calibration then had John Lund or somebody do a custom tune. Car ran 10.95@129 with just the roush blower, custom tune and tires. Freaking amazing!!!
