If you can, have a custom box made to fit in the space behind that tail light. Shouldn't cost more than $75-80. I made my own in a few hours and it cost me $12. You'll be amazed at how much space you can free up doing so.
If you're not too concerned about the fold down seats, you can mount carpeted MDF across the trunk behind the seats. That's where I mounted my amps. You can cut the MDF to fit just the amp and still allow use of a pass-through trunk.
