it recognizes my aux as usb.. however, sometimes I'll start the car up and it'll play the radio. I'll press the sync button on my steering wheel and it wont do anything. I'll have to wait for a few minutes, like it needs to register. and sometimes it just says line in. and it can't recognize a usb device. Oh well, at least i've got a great car to be thankful for

It will play with a list of apps, and Spotify is a recently added one (for iOS phones only atm). If you say "Bluetooth Audio," then it won't display your songs, but it plays whatever sound is to be coming out of the device (useful for those watching videos that want to hear the sound through the speakers). If you say "Mobile Apps," let it search for the apps, and say "Pandora," when it picks up the apps, that is when it is supposed to show the song names on the radio. Either path will allow you to control the songs from the wheel, but the major difference is the song display and the ability to "like" songs on certain apps (two functions of AppLink).

You are using AppLink when you go through the "Mobile Apps" route:

If you think the SYNC system sucks you should try the MYFORDTOUCH system thats in my '12 Focus. Now that thing SUCKS.

I'd take the touch over the older Sync. At lest they keep updating the touch.

I have a USB stick in, and normally listen to that.
About 1/2 of the time, when I start the car it properly comes up in USB
But about 1/2 of the time, it comes up "Sync Line In" And I have to press the voice button and say "USB" to get it to switch, which is annoying.

I don't have anything plugged into the 'line in' jack, so I'm not sure why it decides to pick that, when the USB stick IS plugged in all the time.

I have not tried bluetooth for music, though I do use it for my phone, which works fine.

So last night was the biggest problem. It would play radio or cd but when I pressed aux, nothing would happen. I tried connecting my phone via blue tooth yet still nothing would show up. I pressed the phone button and nothing. I pressed the phone button on the steering wheel and nothing. I pressed the voice command button and still, nothing. Can't I just get in my car and listen to my ipod with no problems for once? I don't get it. Tried shutting off the car and turning the key back on and plugging and unplugging the ipod from usb, it didn't even recognize the ipod or note that it was charging. I'm gonna see if it works today. Maybe the tune messed it up, Idk. Anyone having these issues?

I would take it back to Ford. Its a brand new car. Most dealers will have a "specialist" that can help you with any SYNC problems.

And trust me Boaisy you dont want Touch. We keep taking it back to get "updates" and it always comes back either worse that before, or fixed one problem but now its got a new problem.

So, not to add fuel to the fire (well actually yes) seems that Ford is bowing to consumer pressure about the problems with MyFordTouch and Sync systems. There was a similar article in the Aug/Sept issue of Automobile Magazine or Car & Driver. I get both magazines but I can't recall at the moment which mentioned it too.
