I dont think staggered makes for bad handling at all, i think it actually just increases rear grip above what it would have been (although tire rubber compound makes a much bigger difference than tire width). It doesnt decrease front grip or anything. Some people will say this increases understeer but ive never experienced understeer at all ever in a mustang.. Ive never been to a track though. I would say my car is safer to push harder now with staggered tires. and it looks good

also the 275's i have on my fronts are about as wide as 275's get, and they fit fine, i havent noticed any rubbing with my rim offset's .

Not once in 31 plus years as a Trooper, all the wrecks investigated, helped investigated, reconstructions, injuries, deaths, .... almost always the result of driver error, some few times mechanical break down (like broken ball joint, tie rod end, ubolts due to lift blocks, rust, worn out, or NB TT loose wheel at 65, it cross median, through windshield of SB TT) or act of God (deer, bear, cow, draft horse in roadway, jump off bank, road washed out due to flooding or sinkhole, tree fall as vehicle pass, and etc) not even once in those many thousands was this a factor.

Cool, I'll most likely go with 275 up front on a 9" and 275 rear with 10" P-Zero's so I'm looking fat and fit properly. Pinched side walls can't corner as well, I read mostly you'll get a floating feeling with 8.5 and wide tires.

My set-up should go from Winter rain 40-50 deg, to passable on the Summer drag strip.
Once I out-drive them I'll look at some 555 for the rear.

Thanks, now to decide whether to keep my stock tires as back-ups or sell-em?

If I'm reading the above correctly, and you're going to be running a staggered rim set-up, why would you not run a staggered tire set-up??....265 up front on the 9" rim, and something like a 285 or 295 out back on the 10" rim.

I've got FR500 9" front, 10.5 rear with 275/45/18s(yes, it's a taller sidewall tire). I'm stock ride height and I have ZERO rub in the front at wheel lock. Only reason I went with the higher sidewall is I found a fantastic deal of $100/ea off tirerack. I'm waiting to do suspension mods until I these wear out and in the mean time am focusing on power and style mods.

If you are going to run the same size tire all around then you should run the same size rim, it makes sense and then you can rotate them as well.
