Car 7 years old today.
No, I'm not going out for a celebratory drive. While I have not had the dreaded water leak problem, I try to avoid driving in the rain--and it's raining today. You would think with all the years Ford has been assembling cars, they could do a better job.
A summary of issues over seven years:
The air bag recall--not a big deal.
I'm now on my fourth battery. Yes, I had the parasitic draw checked a few years ago and it was an acceptable 40 mA. Yes, I turn the radio off before I turn the ignition off.
I have the common badge of honor for these cars--corrosion on the lip of the hood.
I also don't like looking like a dork as I try to reposition the fuel nozzle at a gas station so I can get fuel into the car's fuel tank. This doesn't happen all the time, but it's often enough to be annoying.
The thing that is the biggest deal to me is the time the engine went from 600 rpm to 6000 rpm while I had my foot on the brake pedal. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong, and Ford Motor Company said not to do any more work on the car unless it happened again. FoMoCo told the dealer to explain to me that there were all kinds of safety features, and that I must have had my foot on the gas pedal (I didn't). Ford Customer Service was absolutely useless. They said they would document my complaint and might have someone look into the matter. If they did look into the matter, they wouldn't necessarily let me know. If you're interested, take a look at the complaints filed with NHTSA regarding this issue. I'm not the only one who experienced this. www.safercar.gov Click on Vehicle Owners and go from there.
Do I think I made the right choice in buying the car? Yes. Would I buy another Ford? Maybe. I don't like the attitude of FoMoCo towards its customers when there are issues.

Congratulations on the birthday. Sucks that you didn't get the resolution you wanted from Ford. My 2013 will probably be my last Ford also. I've never had any major problems with my mustangs, a 1997, 2004, 2010, or 2013, but it's time for me to move on. My wife says I need to grow up. I have my eye on the M5's.

Congrats on 7 years! I bought mine new back in Sept. '07. Can't recall the exact purchase date. It's been pretty solid except for the few times I've had it go into limp home mode with the wrench light popping up. This was after the Whipple install. I fixed it though. Also had an issue with the fuel gauge not reading right. I fixed that too. I do all maintenance, repairs & mods myself. Well, except for my most recent mod which was the K-member. I let a shop touch my car for the first time ever in 7 yrs so they can install it. That's one mod I didn't feel like doing myself. I've also had the air bag recall done but that doesn't count in my book. I'm only on my 2nd battery and it's a red top Optima. Car now has just over 80k; with 44k of that supercharged.

My '07 turned 6 years this past June. I can't complain too much but she's not my DD and hasn't quite rolled 40k miles yet. I don't care for FoMoCo but you can't resist a Stang. I'm waiting to see what 2015 brings.
Congrats on your girl's birthday!

My 06 is 6.5 years old. I bought it with 15k in 2009 and they had put a new battery in it. No water leak but did have the front end clunk and the the badge of honor rust under the front hood. The only other part to fail was the rear end clutches and that was from hundreds of 1320 runs. I am amazed at how strong this car is. I would buy a second mustang right now if I wasnt so practical.

I bought my 07 new and really haven't had any problems. 40k on the odometer, supercharged still runs great.
This is the second story I have read about someone's displeasure with ford. I recently read a story about a guy who bought a brand new BMW (160,000). In the shop for over a month and still there was no resolve. So the guy took his car to a big BMW car show in Germany and proceeded to smash his car with sledgehammer
It's unfortunate car companies of all makes don't care
