Default How do I get this out of my dash?

I have this USB power thingy in the power port in my dash. It's very small and doesn't stick out from the little power plug compartment, so I can't get ahold of the thing. Any suggestions how I might remove it? Will it hurt anything to leave it there?

Here's what the profile of the thing looks like. There's a little bit of a lip, but my fingers would have to be infant-sized to fit in there.

Got it! I used two allen wrenches as hooks, and the bottom of the compartment for leverage.

I'll plug the stupid thing into the armrest cubby next time.

Amy, my car has a USB port already in the armrest that will also charge a 5 volt device as well as sync to the car... this is the same port you do the sync software updates through. So the adapter isnt really required.

Maybe wrap some small string or heavy thread around the thing and pull?

I leave mine in my car plugged in 24-7. It was also in my Focus ST and 98 900 Saab. Always on, never a problem in all my cars.

I don't like how the port is constant power. I keep my GPS plugged in there, have since the minute I bought the car.

Due to the constant wheel/tire combo changes on my previous car, I have used the GPS as my speedometer for many years. I have done the same since day one on my Mustang.

It stays on, and there have been several occasion I have forgotten to turn the GPS off at night, or for the weekend.

It hasn't drained the battery at all.

Though I do wish the port was switched with the ignition.
